Are You Jinxing Your Happiness?

Keep your ideas to yourself until they are fully developed

I’ve been experimenting with the law of attraction for some time now. I have had many moments where I’m blown away at just how easy manifesting our desires can be. And I’ve been equally annoyed at just how quickly I often seem to interrupt it. In an attempt to understand where I’m going wrong, I’ve been pondering the idea of jinxing…

Ask and You Shall Receive

Recently, I decided that I’d like to sell my motorcycle. During my meditation that morning I asked the universe for help in doing so.

Incredibly, the same afternoon I received a Facebook message from a guy I had dated over two years ago, asking if I still had my bike. I replied letting him know I wanted to sell it and asked if he knew anyone who might be interested. He immediately referred me to someone whom I later had a very promising conversation with.

I was so excited and amazed at how quickly these events manifested that I told a few people. After all, we’re supposed to celebrate the small wins. But then…crickets. And it’s not the first time.

So what happened? Why does the manifestation stop?

I’ve been pondering this for a while now, and here’s what I’ve got so far.

Internal Wobbles

Despite how long I have been experimenting with the law of attraction, I am still surprised when things actually work out.

After decades of struggle in my life, I have learned that making the unfamiliar notion of wishes coming true familiar is a lengthy process — at least for me.

When that message from the man I dated over two years ago came through only hours after I announced my intention to sell my motorcycle to the universe, I was genuinely blown away.

But whilst surprise, excitement, optimism, hopefulness, enthusiasm, appreciation and positive expectation are all high-vibration emotions, doubt is not. And I simultaneously thought “This is too good to be true.”

And BOOM. That thought was enough to put a wrench in my manifestation because we get what we think about whether we want it or not.

External Influence

If we are not completely aligned with our inner Being at all times — and let’s face it, none of us are — other people will influence our vibration.

Not everyone believes in the law of attraction. So, when I told a few people the story in an attempt to eradicate my own doubt, I could sense the doubt and scepticism of some. This vibration, in turn, negatively influenced my own even more — to the point I almost felt silly saying it out loud.

My excitement waned. My own doubt grew.

The irony here is that I do believe, to my core, that life shouldn’t be so hard. I have always believed this.

When I was young and everyone said phrases like “you have to work hard” or “if it’s not hard, it’s not worth doing” or “nothing worth having comes easy” I never understood the logic behind it and always wondered why.

I believe that life should flow with ease and that we all have the ability to create anything we desire.

That doesn’t mean we never experience contrast. But it does mean we don’t reside there.

How To Prevent the Jinx

To be honest, I’m still working on this.

But I believe it’s about the continuous work of aligning with our inner Being. Our emotions let us know how we’re doing. The fewer internal wobbles we have, the more we will be able to manifest.

And until we become masters of our alignment, it’s probably best to keep our ideas to ourselves until they are fully developed. This at least eliminates the external influence factor.

Wherever you are on your healing journey, always remember that YOU ARE ENOUGH.
